As a data scientist, managing many workloads that are submitted, can be a real challenge. From submission to scheduling, initialization, running, and finally completion—there's a lot going on! And let’s not forget the fact that workloads can get suspended or fail during their runtime.
Some of these critical phases require action from data scientists, to make sure that workloads are completed as expected without any delays.
With the 2.18 release, Run:ai introduces Email Notifications, a feature designed to keep you notified immediately when there are changes in your workload.
Set up the email notifications for your organization
To enable email notifications, the system administrator should first enable the feature in the general settings of the system. Simply enable “Email notifications” when using the Run:ai SaaS solution:
If you’re using a self-hosted environment, configure the organizational SMTP server:
Configure the notifications you want to receive
Each data scientist can decide which phases of the workload lifecycle are important for them to know about.
Whether it’s status changes or warning before your workload is about to stop due to timeout defined in your project - it is your call.
Simply go to your personal settings and select the notification types relevant to you.
Get notifications about every step of the workload’s lifecycle…
After configuring the notifications you would like to receive, you’ll get an email once a workload you submitted gets to a relevant phase. You’ll also be able to get the context of this workload, including its type, the project and cluster it is running in, and when the event happened.
Looking to the future…
This is just the first step in helping data scientists and administrators follow up on the many occurrences happening in their AI environment every day.
Going forward, Run:ai plans to provide additional notifications on different platform areas, and will allow you to receive them via different channels such as Slack.
